TNT Girls Sevens Team are triumphant once again!
The TNT Girls Sevens Rugby Team proved themselves, once again, as a strong and skillfull team in the King Country Secondary Schools Rugby Sevens Tournament.
The team traveled to Te Kuiti last Friday to play in the Les Elder Wahine Toa Cup, and they were ready to play hard to retain the 2019 trophy after missing the tournament last year due to Covid. We are thrilled to say that the girls have now retained this trophy for seven consecutive years!
Playing 4 round-robin games, and only conceding 5 points from the Junior TNT girls team in the whole tournament, the girls were playing fast, intense rugby, stacking on a minimum of 37 points per game. In the final, they faced Otorohanga winning convincingly 37-0.
The girls were very happy with the results and are looking forward to defending their BOP U18 Sevens title in a week's time. Coach, Dominick Arnold, was extremely pleased with how the girls defended throughout the tournament, only letting 5 points slip. He was also impressed with the performance of the Junior TNT Team, who won 2 of their 4 games and came close in their game against Otorohanga 15-12.
Overall the girls' rugby talent in Taupo is looking great for the future!
