This week is national volunteers’ week. We are fortunate to have a number of staff, parents, and students who put their hand up to help with our sports programmes.
It is never an easy task, and there is so much more to it than turning up for practices and games – some would liken it to herding cats at times. I want to say ‘Thank you’ to all our wonderful volunteers and hope that our students and parents take the time to thank those who are putting their hands up to coach, manage and officiate teams.
To our students who put their hands up to volunteer for their peers. We are so heavily reliant on our student body as a source of coaching and officiating, and these students are doing a fantastic job and are under a lot of pressure to manage their time and get the results of our more experienced volunteers. Our school-appointed student volunteers this season are:
Thomas Bishop Manager 1st XV Rugby
Rhea Paalvast Umpire Premier Netball
Jodie Baxter, Tyla Schaw, Lorraine Davis Netball Coaches
Bailey Crabb Football Umpire
We also have a few students appointed to roles by other organisations or clubs, or who are coaching or officiating for local primary schools. You guys all do a fantastic job – thank you!
