7th place finish for adventure racers!
During the last week of school, our adventure racing team were competing in their first national championship on Great Barrier Island. The challenges they faced included problem-solving, sailing, rock climbing (sometimes blindfolded!), kayaking, trail running, orienteering and high ropes. Each of these activities accumulated points for the teams, and after three days our team were in 4th place overall due to their consistent performance. The team also faced a two day expedition which included racing self-built rafts and covering a distance of 40km of rough and challenging terrain on the first day, followed by camping (in a storm) and pure orienteering over 30km in 6 hours the next day. By prizegiving on the final day, the team had placed 7th overall, the top placing out of the three teams who were new to this competition. We are incredibly proud of this team for competing in their first national championship and for such a great result!
We would like to extend a special thank you to our sponsors--the team couldn't have done it without you!
