On the 10th to the 13th of March, members of the Turangi Karate Club, including Emily Bell, a Year 9 student of Taupo-nui-a-Tia College, represented New Zealand at the 12th TSKF/ISKF Australian Championships 2025 held in Perth, at the University of Western Australia. This four-day event included three intense days of training ending in tough competition for the 120 competitors in attendance from all over Australia, Japan and New Zealand.
Emily gained invaluable seminar training and tuition from renowned New Zealand and Australian Chief Instructor, Takahashi Shunsuke Shihan and his three Sensei’s, Hirata, Nemoto and Tobita, who travelled from Japan to conduct the event with strong presence and invigorating guidance.
Emily is well on her way to following in the footsteps of Year 13 student, Grace Hura, who successfully competed at the London Karate World Championships 2024.
