Great to see some of our dancing girls having a fun time at DanceNZmade again this year.
After months of hard work and dedication the Regional Interschools competition and a full day of dance workshops was held this week at the GLC. Once again, Taupo has shown such a high level of skill and passion for dance within our community.
Wednesday night saw many girls compete their solo and duo dances, with amazing results.
Well done to these girls:
Taylor Weston - Year 13 Solo Champion
Anika Beck - Year 11 Solo Champion
Mia Beck - Year 9 Solo Champion
(Also Sophia Blewett 2nd Year 11, Kea Nukada 2nd Year 10, Sophie Bunny 3rd Year 10, Summer Olsen 2nd Year 9)
Anika Beck and Sophia Blewett - Year 11-13 Duo Champions
Mia Beck and Summer Olsen - Year 9/10 Duo Champions
(Also Lucy Samuel and Aliya Stratford 2nd, Kea Nukada and Zari Gorman 3rd Y9-10 Duo, and Sophie Bunny and Georgia Fox 2nd in Open Duos)
After a full day of workshops on Thursday - where a large number of our girls gained a 'Golden Ticket' for outstanding performance - four groups took to the stage that night with both the Y9 -10 and Y11-13 groups winning their categories and qualifying for Nationals in October.
Special thanks must go to the volunteer choreographers that have worked hard to help the girls get ready - previous students Grace Bilbie, Shaz Coren-Goldsmith and Caitlyn MacRae, along with Milla Watts and Sophia Blewett from Year 11. We are also incredibly thankful to Iggy Gloy from Dance Central who sponsored our groups by allowing them to hold weekly practices at her studio - much appreciated!
