The Taupo-nui-a-Tia College Clay Target team has grown in size this year to 12 shooters. The headed to Matamata on Thursday and had a successful and enjoyable day out. This season we have both experienced and brand new shooters.
The day began with some 'excitement'... arriving at the venue, there were issues with the power and everyone had to be evacuated from the main building for safety! This meant there was no power for the building, the kitchen nor the traps. So no competition was on the cards. Luckily enough for the organisers and competitors, our awesome parent Scott Gibbons, who is a Generator expert was able to help and, although without his tools, was able to secure a generator and connect it up so the competition could get underway. Everyone was lucky he was on site!
After the significant delay, the key results from the day were:
Harrison Knight - Two possible in two disciplines, Single Barrel and Single Rise, and a 4th overall in the boys event
Harlan Wildey - A possible in the Single Barrel
Nadine Gibbons - 4th overall in the girls event
Our team of Harrison Knight, Nadine Gibbons, Harlan Wildey, Fergus Maclachlan, and George Canning achieved an awesome 3rd place overall in the Open Teams event.
The other team members were Lana Breingan, Luke Falconer, Ben Partner, Hamish Seymour, Naomi Seymour, Jack Staples and Jaxon Terry.
Congratulations everyone on a great day out!
