Early on Sunday 13th August, five TNT students competed in the NZ Secondary School Duathlon National Championships at Ambury Regional Park, Mangere, Auckland.
The setting was Ambury Farm (including lambs, calves, and peacocks watching on!) and the local residential streets, and the race consisted of a run, followed by a road bike, and then a second run. The students all raced hard and gave their best effort. It was a tough day for some, perhaps not going the way they would have liked, while others managed to make it onto the podium.
Josie Murphy (U14 Girls) - 3rd
Kian Weston (U14 Boys) - 2nd
Olivia Shepherd (U13 Girls)
Oli Barnett (U16 Boys)
Leah Kilmister (U16 Girls)
It's great to see the students supporting each other, and representing themselves and their school with enthusiasm. Thanks very much to the dedicated and supportive parents who make the effort to get their young people to these events. Thanks also to Coach, Cam Paul, for his guidance with training. Despite the fact that the race is down to the individual and what the race decides to throw at you that day, it takes a team and a community to get to the start line.
Great work, everyone!
