Welcome to 2023 from the principal
Tēnā koutou katoa.
As the 2023 school year beckons, I wanted to send a welcome to you all. I hope, despite the weather, you were all able to spend time over the summer break with whānau and friends, and doing the things that bring you joy.
I am privileged to lead our amazing kura into a new school year. It is an honour to hold the principal position at Taupo-nui-a Tia College and I am looking forward to what 2023 has in store for all of us. I have not experienced the beginning of a school year at Nui yet, due to starting in the middle of last year, so I can't wait to see what goes on!
One of our goals for this year relates to increasing the pride we have in our school, and continuing to build a culture of excellence in everything we do. The goal links to raising awareness of our learner profile, which can be found under the academic tab here on our website or by following this link https://www.taupocollege.ac.nz/academic/overview We believe Taupo-nui-a Tia College offers world-class educational, sporting, and cultural opportunities and we want to ensure our rangatahi (young people) understand what it means to attend the best school in the universe.
I am looking forward to sharing more about what goes on at our kura through our weekly newsletters, but for now, below are a few key dates for the week beginning Monday 23 January.
Wed 25 Jan - school office reopens
Wed 1 Feb - year 9 powhiri with support from year 13s
Thur 2 Feb - all year levels at school
More specific details will be communicated later next week.
Ngā mihi
Ben Claxton
