"On the 9th and 10th of September, Nui's dance students participated in Taupo's first non-competitive dance festival, Huihui//Collide. On Friday, our students performed at the Great Lake Centre with other dancers from the greater Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. The show was attended by Sarah Knox (Dance Studies lecturer, University of Auckland) and Taiaroa Royal (Creative Director of Ōkārekā Dance Company) who will be providing our students with feedback on their performance and choreography skills.
On Saturday, the students attended workshops with Sarah and Taiaroa and two of Sarah's students from UoA. It was a pleasure watching how our students worked with young people from Rotorua Girls High School and Te Puke High. The manaakitanga our students showed was impressive - taking the Te Puke students out for dinner on show night!"
