Your Board of Trustees at Taupo-nui-a-Tia College is working very hard to ensure the college has the best possible learning environment for our students. We regularly remind ourselves of our mission which is one of preparation of our students to be responsible members of our community – locally, nationally and globally. Building the character of our students is important, but under this mission our primary goal is to improve student achievement. The Board recognises that critical to our students’ preparation and learning is the effectiveness and quality of our teaching. The college, through a programme developed by its Senior Management team, is investing a lot of time and effort into professional development of our teachers. Weekly 8:00am sessions take place before whanau group time with a strong focus on literacy and its application across the curriculum. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated and focused teaching staff across all faculties of the college, and also to have the very cohesive and hard working senior management team, inspirationally led by our Principal, Peter Moyle. All staff are supported by our fantastic administration and support staff.
We are very proud of our physical school environment and are continuing to support the development of this. The recently refurbished E Block has received glowing feedback from the Ministry of Education, staff and students alike. Further landscaping work that complements this new building work is being planned at present. The improvements during the last few years have certainly enhanced the ‘heart’ of the college. The impressive growth of our roll is testimony to this and also the positive vibe that exists throughout all areas of the college.
Of course the college would not be able to function effectively without the support of our parents and community. We urge parents to take every opportunity to be involved in college life and the study being undertaken by students. Thank you for your participation and be assured that we will continue to serve you and the school community to the best of our ability.
